Summary: Collection consists of materials about Manuel Chaves. Most of the collection is made up of essays and letters about Chaves written by his son, Amado Chaves. These materials, consisting of both original documents and some photocopies, contain a wealth of information about the history of the Chaves family, New Mexico history, and events in Santa Fe in particular. Also in the collection are materials on Manuel Chaves collected by historian Marc Simmons, including a photocopy of an 1861 letter by Manuel Chaves reporting a Navajo attack at Fort Fauntleroy, Colorado.
